Dist. 9 Constituents in Evanston to Thank Jan Schakowsky for Supporting Iran Deal
EVANSTON, ILLINOIS — On Wednesday, August 26, Dist. 9 constituents will gather at Congressional Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s office in Evanston. Residents will thank Rep. Schakowsky for supporting the agreement that the United States and other world powers have reached to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Following the event, the activists will deliver a petition to Schakowsky’s office, signed by approximately 3000 constituents who, like the majority of Americans, support diplomacy, not war. The petition reads “President Obama has invested in a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear program—committing to peace, not war, as a preferred course of action. We call on Congress to stand with him in this effort.”
