Skokie Police Blotter: July 13 - July 19

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Readers are reminded that everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt, and criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
HOME BURGLARIES

- Someone broke into a home in the 8300 block of Knox Avenue between 7 p.m. on July 12 and 6:08 p.m. on July 13 by forcing entry through a back door.
- Someone entered an unlocked apartment in the 8200 block of Niles Center Road between 8:35 and 10:37 p.m. on July 13.
- Someone got entry to through a basement door and stole various items between 1 a.m. on June 15 and 8 p.m. on June 21, police were told on July 13.
ROBBERY
Around 3:40 a.m. on July 15, three people threw a person to the ground and stole their wallet in the 8500 block of Skokie Boulevard while they were walking home.
COMPUTER TAMPERING
Someone in the 4100 block of Greenwood Street accessed confidential computer files without permission between Nov. 15, 2017 and July 18.

HIT-AND-RUNS REPORTED
- Around 9:32 p.m. on July 14, someone left a motorcycle in the 4600 block of Church Street after crashing it.
- Between 7:30 and 8:54 a.m. on July 15, someone hit a parked car in the 7800 block of Keeler Avenue and left the area.
- A hit-and-run accident was reported around 1 p.m. on July 15 in the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue.
- After a traffic crash around 3:22 p.m. on July 15, someone left the scene without providing information.
- Someone struck a car while parked in a lot in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue between 7:50 and 8:39 p.m. on July 15.
- Between 10:30 p.m. on July 15 and 9:30 a.m. on July 16, a hit and run crash was reported in the 4800 block of Greenwood Street.
- A hit-and-run crash with a Pace bus was reported around 2:50 p.m. on July 16 in the 8800 block of Skokie Boulevard.
- Someone fled the scene of a traffic crash in the 5100 block of Pratt Avenue around 3:03 p.m. on July 17 without providing any information.
- Around 3:45 p.m. on July 19, someone sideswiped a vehicle in the 5100 block of Touhy Avenue and failed to stop. It was last seen heading southbound on Carpenter Road from Touhy.
ARRESTS
Maria D. Barajas, 40, of the 1900 block of North Lowell Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 3:37 p.m. on July 15 at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.
David B. Nagler, 29, of the 9700 block of Lowell Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. on July 16 in the 4900 block of Dempster Street and charged with retail theft.
Robert Y. Gevargiz, 38, of the 8300 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 6:05 p.m. on July 16 in the 8300 block of Knox Avenue and charged with aggravated assault and resisting police.
Steven E. Carlson, 35, of the 3800 block of Dobson Street in Skokie, was arrested at 12:57 a.m. on July 17 in the 8300 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.
Jeremy E. Zaloun, 43, of the 7400 block of Ridge Boulevard in Chicago, was arrested at 9:07 a.m. on July 17 at the Walmart, 3636 Touhy Ave., and charged with possession of methamphetamine, identity theft and an active arrest warrant.
Debra M. Greenberg, 62, of the 9700 block of North Greenwood Avenue in Niles, was arrested at 8:40 p.m. on July 17 at the Skokie Police Department on an in-state arrest warrant.
Eric D. Moore, 39, of the 1100 block of Church Street in Evanston, was arrested at 10:25 p.m. on July 17 in the 4700 block of Golf Road and charged with identity theft and theft of lost and mislaid property.
Robyn E. Curtis, 30, of the 8800 block of Lamon Avenue in Skokie, was arrested 3:20 a.m. on July 18 in the 8800 block of Lamon Avenue on an active in-state arrest warrant.
Ferdinand R. Sporea, 32, of the 7900 block of Karlov Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. on July 19 in the 8000 block of Kilbourn Avenue on an in-state warrant and also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Joshua Viruet, 26, of the 3700 block of Leland Way in Chicago, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. on July 19 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with criminal damage to property.
Oscar A. Campos Vivanco, 28, of the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. on July 19 in the 4800 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.
Christian V. Sanchez, 28, of the 1300 block of Cottonwood Lane in Mount Prospect, was arrested at 2:56 p.m. on July 20 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with two counts of retail theft, obstructing identification and criminal trespassing.
