Honor Ride Chicago Names Lead Rider
Honor Ride Chicago, scheduled for June 12th in Skokie has named Navy Veteran Josh Sharpe as its new Lead Rider.
Help injured and healing Veterans, through cycling at Honor Ride Chicago on Sunday, June 12 at 8am.
Developed by Ride 2 Recovery and sponsored by Evanston Subaru in Skokie and United Airlines, Honor Ride Chicago provides a life changing experience for our healing heroes.
The Honor Ride gives the public the opportunity to ride with Veterans, enlisted military and hundreds of supporters on a fun ride along the North Shore. You’ll meet and mingle with Medal of Honor recipient, Allen Lynch and our Lead Rider, Josh Sharpe, an injured Navy veteran and military hero who benefits from Ride 2 Recovery programs. Josh’s girlfriend, Carrie Finale, also a paraplegic will be joining our Honor Ride on her custom-made handcycle. Like Josh, Carrie is a world-class athlete competing in the United State Handcycling Series.

Unfortunately, last year’s Lead Rider John Masson was originally scheduled to return again in 2016, but due to a family scheduling conflict, John sends his regrets for not being able to attend. We’re so pleased to have recruited Josh Sharpe to fill-in for John Masson.
Beginning in Skokie, at 3340 Oakton Street. Cyclists choose one of three non-competitive distances to ride; 18, 38 or 50 miles.

The ride begins at 8am, but prior to riding we’ll have a brief opening ceremony featuring the patriotic sounds of the Patriot Brass Band. Plus we’ll have coffee and treats from vendors like the Corner Bakery Café and Sweety Pie’s Bakery in Skokie. Every participant will also receive a goodie bag with valuable giveaways from our sponsors and the opportunity to purchase a custom event jersey, where 100% of the proceeds go to Ride 2 Recovery.
Your registration includes: 10 drawings for $100 Old Orchard gift cards, an iPad, Apple Airbook laptop, Cubs tickets, Northwestern Wildcat football tickets, numerous restaurant gift cards, Free hotel nights at Hyatt, Hilton and B&Bs, Amazon & iTunes gift cards, Headphones by Dre and much more. While on the ride we’ll provide fully stocked rest stops and SAG support.
Following the ride, at Evanston Subaru in Skokie, you’ll receive a finishing medal, enjoy a free lunch from Chicago’s famous Del Campo’s taco bar, prepared by Chef David Aviles and live entertainment, by Latino music sensation, the Humboldt Park Orchestra.
