Illinois Municipal League presents legislative award to Representative John D'Amico at Annual Conference
D'Amico strong advocate for municipal government
Chicago, IL- The Illinois Municipal League presented a legislative award to Representative John D’Amico on Saturday, September 19, at the IML Annual Conference. The award recognized legislators “in appreciation for your support of municipal governments during the 2015 legislative session.” Local governments faced challenges this session related to budget funding, pensions and transportation related issues. D’Amico is the state representative of the 15th District, which encompasses portions of the northwest side of Chicago.
The IML Annual Conference was held September 17 thru September 19 at the Hilton Chicago Hotel, and more than 750 mayors from Illinois as well as 1,500 people attended the conference.
“Local governments in Illinois have faced many difficulties throughout this past legislative session, whether relating to proposed funding cuts, unfunded mandates or transportation and infrastructure issues,” said Brad Cole, Executive Director of IML. “John has been a driving force in pursuing the interests of his district, and we’re lucky to have him as an advocate for municipal governments.”

In addition to D’Amico’s efforts to improve safety for residents throughout Illinois, he also helped secure funding for needed road improvements for the village of Niles. The funding for the road project improved conditions for commuters and also brought jobs to the community.
