Izhak "Irv" Pikelny, age 74.

Service Sunday 10:30AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie.

Izhak "Irv" Pikelny, age 74.

Beloved husband of Nancy Shapiro Pikelny. Loving and devoted Aba of Motti (Rachel) Pikelny and Noam (Caitlin Canty) Pikelny. Sweet Zayde of Nathan, Lyla, Arthur and Jonah. Dear son of the late Max and the late Faye Pikelny. Honorary brother of Susie, Ken and Fred Shapiro. Honorary son of the late Nate and the late Ruth Shapiro.

Izhak was a devoted Jew, a champion for his family, a dedicated Bluegrass music fan, a talented handy-man, and the violinist/guitarist of the "The Knights Before," an unheard of 1960's Chicago Rock Band. He dedicated his career to improving the quality of health care in underserved communities. When faced with his own difficult health challenges, Izhak was never a "kvetch" and always had a smile on his face. He was grateful for the good life he had. Izhak was a gentle man of a calm heart and will be deeply missed.
