Evanston, IL - Singer Megon McDonough returns to her folk roots with an all-acoustic concert entitled “Megon McDonough: A Girl and Her Guitar” on Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave., Skokie, IL.
In this extraordinary and intimate evening, enjoy songs from some of your favorite songwriters from the 1950s to the 1990s. Megon will take you on a musical journey of her four-decade career, starting with her early influences -- the Beatles, Carole King, Edith Piaf, and Patsy Cline -- followed by some of Megon’s own folk songs, ranging from hilarious (such as the ones she recorded with the group The Four Bitchin’ Babes) to heartfelt hits such as “Amazing Things.”
A resident of Evanston, Megon has been performing professionally since the age of 14. Megon grew up in Crystal Lake, IL, and by the age of 17, she was opening for such folk acts as John Denver, Steve Martin and Harry Chapin. She has performed on stages as diverse as Carnegie Hall and the Cellar Door. Megon has 15 solo albums to her credit, and is best known for her original song “Amazing Things.”

About Megon McDonough
Born in Crystal Lake, Ill., to a large Irish-Catholic family Megon McDonough was stirred to play the guitar and sing after watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. She wrote her first song at the age of 11.
By the age of 17, she was opening for such folk acts as John Denver, Steve Martin and Harry Chapin. She has performed on stages as diverse as Carnegie Hall and the Cellar Door. Megon is best known for her work as an inaugural member of the folk group The Four Bitchin’ Babes, which allowed her wit and folk sensibilities to comment on the ups and downs of everyday life.
To date, Megon has 15 solo albums to her credit, and is best known for her original song “Amazing Things.” Megon classifies her music as folk/cabaret, citing her love of theater and jazz as the reason for the unusual mix.
