SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded that arrest does not prove guilt, as criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
INCIDENTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
Someone stole a headlight off of a car parked in the 4800 block of Conrad Street between 8 p.m. on June 19 and 6 a.m. on June 20.

HIT-AND-RUNS
- Between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on June 19, someone damaged a car parked in the 4900 block of Dempster Street.
- Between 10 and 10:11 a.m. on June 20, a vehicle parked in a business parking lot in the 9600 block of Gross Point Road.
- A known driver crashed into a car in the 3300 block of Dempster Street around 4:15 p.m. on June 20 and left the area.
- Between 11:30 a.m. on June 22 and 8 a.m. on June 23, someone crashed into a car parked in the 3300 block of Crain Street.
IDENTITY THEFT
An incident of deceptive practices and identity theft reportedly occurred in the 5000 block of Dempster Street between June 15 and June 20.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
An apparent teen placing menus for Sarpinos Pizza in Evanston between 1 and 2 p.m. on June 20 in the 8400 block of Laramie Avenue reportedly used a piece of chalk to write profanity in Italian and what appeared to be a swastika on the sidewalk.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
Staff at the smoke shop in the 3400 block of Dempster Street reported an incident of deceptive practices occurred between 12:05 to 12:20 p.m. on June 20.
BATTERY
A battery was reported in the 5100 block of Dempster Street around 6:41 p.m. on June 20.
UNDERAGE DRINKING
A juvenile was arrested in the 3500 block of Greenwood Street around 11:50 p.m. on June 20 and accused of hosting an underage party involved alcohol. Citations were issued for alcohol consumption, being the keeper of disorderly house and being in possession of alcohol and tobacco products.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Staff at the Mariano's in the 3300 block of Touhy Avenue reported that shortly after 9 a.m. on June 21 an unidentified man filled up a shopping cart with various merchandise and walked out of the store without paying. Two employees confronted the man in the parking lot, but he put the stolen goods into a car, struck an employee and drove away.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Fargo Avenue resident reported on June 21 that someone used their credit card to make unauthorized purchases the prior day.
CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
A resident in the 9500 block of Lamon Avenue reported shortly after noon on June 21 that an unidentified trespasser had unlawfully entered a home.
SEXUAL ABUSE
Police received a report of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue around 2:17 p.m. on June 21.
RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Bed, Bath & Beyond, 5545 Touhy Avenue, reported that around 6:13 p.m. on June 21 a man described as 30 to 35 years old black man with a bald head, light complexion and a thin build who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a gray shirt, gray jogging pants and black Adidas shoes.
TREE THEFT
Someone stole a tree from a front yard in the 5200 block of George Street sometime on May 11, police were told on June 21.
CAR THEFT
Someone stole a white, enclosed AC semi trailer from the 8100 block of St. Louis Avenue around April 25, police were told on June 22.
HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPT
Someone tried to break into a home in the 4300 block of Greenwood Street between 5:30 p.m. on June 19 and 10:36 a.m. on June 23.
EGGING
Someone egged a car parked on the road in the 7900 block of Kenton Avenue between 7:15 and 7:26 p.m. on June 23.
PUBLIC INDECENCY
An indecent exposure from an unidentified person was reported in the 8900 block of Bronx Avenue around 8:36 a.m. on June 24.
FORGERY/DRUGS/OBSTRUCTION
An incident of possession of a controlled substance, forgery and obstructing identification in the 3400 block of Dempster Street around 11:25 a.m. on June 24.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
An unspecified man was taken into custody on the morning of June 25 after allegedly breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend, chocking her, threatening her with a knife and preventing her from calling 911 between 3 and 7:42 a.m.
BATTERY
Someone made unwanted sexual contact with a person in the 8300 block of Skokie Boulevard between 4:45 a.m. and 5 a.m.
RETAIL THEFT
Someone stole five bottles of vitamins from the Walgreens in the 4800 block of Oakton Street.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
A criminal sexual assault that reportedly occurred in the morning hours of March 26 was reported to police June 25.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
Someone stole four rims and tires from a car parked in the 4900 block of Crain Street between 12:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. on June 26.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone tried to cash a bogus check at a currency exchange in the 4900 block of Dempster Street around 10:30 a.m. on June 26.
CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A student at a Skokie junior high school provided to police what she believed to be a naked photo of a student from another school around 1 p.m. on June 1. It was reported at the Skokie Police Department on the afternoon of June 26.
SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue reported at 7:46 p.m. on June 26 that a man described as about 6 feet tall and white with a slim build and wearing a black "AC/DC" short-sleeved shirt, black pants and white gym shoes stole an unspecified amount of merchandise.
ARRESTS
Jorge Horacio Pesce, 24, of the 1400 block of North 1st Avenue in Melrose Park, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. on June 21 and charged with retail theft at the Walmart, 3626 Touhy Avenue.
Alberto Villegas Lopez, 32, of the 8200 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. on June 23 in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Joseph M. J. Mazur, 23, of the 2200 block of North Keystone Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 4 a.m. on June 24 in the 4900 block of Hull Street and charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
William Burton, 65, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street in Chicago, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. on June 24 at the Macy's at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft and obstructing identification.
Llovani Gomez, 28, of the 6100 block of North Albany Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 6:31 p.m. on June 25 in the 8200 block of McCormick Boulevard on an in-state warrant.
Sharnece T. Harris, 21, of the 8900 block of Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, was arrested at 10:03 p.m. on June 25 in the 3800 block of Louise Avenue and charged with violation of an order of protection and a hit-and-run.
Joymarc Querol, 33, of the 800 block of Mcitosh Court in Prospect Heights, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. on June 26 at the Walmart, 3626 Touhy Ave., and charged with retail theft. He was arrested again by Cook County sheriff's police a little over 24 hours later in the 500 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with felony drug possession and probation violation. Yeshua Cameil Jones, 22, of the 9100 block of Ewing Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. on June 26 in the 8800 block of Lincolnwood Drive in Evanston and charged with contributing to the criminal delinquency of a juvenile in connection with an incident of disorderly conduct, curfew violation, possession of tobacco by a minor and retail theft reported around 11:30 the prior night at a 7-Eleven in the 3900 block of Dempster Street.
Harvey W. Blair III, 49, of the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 5:32 p.m. on June 26 in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with retail theft from the DSW Shoe Warehouse.
Justin M. Moss, 32, of the 1000 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. on June 27 in the 4300 block of Main Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and criminal damage to property.
Luis Nerias, 48, of the 6500 block of Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. on June 27 in the 7300 block of North Clark Street and charged with grooming – using an electronic device to solicit a child, or someone believed to be a child, to commit a sex offense.
Reginald Gedin, 27, of the 8000 block of Kenneth Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. on June 27 in the 4000 block of Oakton Street on an in-state warrant.
