2 Sexual Assaults; Pizza Delivery Armed Robbery: Skokie Blotter

Skokie Police Blotter: June 13 - June 19

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded that arrest does not prove guilt, as criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

INCIDENTS

ASSAULT/HARASSMENT/RESTRAINT
An aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated domestic battery, criminal trespass to residence, unlawful restraint and harassment by telephone was reported to have taken place between 9:30 and 10 a.m. on June 13 in the 9200 block of Latrobe Avenue. No charges were filed.

AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING/ASSAULT
A woman reported she was sexually assaulted and placed in a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. on June 14 in the 9200 block of Central Park Avenue. The incident was reported on the evening of June 18 and remains under investigation.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
Two residents in the 9300 block of Kenton Avenue reported on June 14 that a man purporting to offer an apartment for sublet had submitted fraudulent credit and background checks sometime between June 10 and 14 and kept the money for himself.

EMAIL SCAM
Employees of a Skokie-based company in the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road reported on June 15 that between 11:48 a.m. on June 13 and 11:59 p.m. on June 14 they had been the victim of fraudulent emails.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a 2016 Ford from the 8600 block of Keeler Avenue between 7:16 and 11:45 p.m. on June 15, police were told on the afternoon on June 16.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 8300 block of Kilpatrick Avenue reported on June 17 that a man or boy on a bicycle had alarmed and disturbed them while reaching into his waistband and making comments.

HOME BURGLARY
A home in the 8300 block of Keating Avenue was burglarized between May 17 and June 10, police were told on June 17.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY
An aggravated battery was reported at 9:45 p.m. on June 17 in the 9000 block of Lavergne Avenue.

ARMED ROBBERY
An armed robbery was reported around 11 p.m. on June 17 in the 9000 block of Niles Center Road while a person making a pizza delivery was robbed at gunpoint.

UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPONS
A resident reported on June 18 that someone brandished a black handgun while driving in the 5100 block of Howard Street around 2:45 p.m. that afternoon.

CRAIGSLIST SCAM
A resident in the 5000 block of Enfield Avenue reported on June 18 that someone had asked them for $1,400 for shipping fees for a motorcycle after a transaction on Craigslist, but the person never purchased the motorcycle and pocked the shipping fee.

STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 9400 block of Kenton Avenue reported on June 19 that her boyfriend had borrowed her Nissan on June 17 and never returned it.


ARRESTS

Sanjida Hussain Chowdhury, 30, of the 8300 block of Keeler Avenue in Skokie, and Rejina A. Mumith, 48, of the 6500 block of North Seeley Avenue in Chicago, were arrested shortly before 12:30 a.m. on June 14 at the Walmart at 3326 Touhy Ave. and charged with retail theft.

Katie Raquel Gonzales, 26, of the 8500 block of Christiana Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:45 p.m. on June 14 and charged with aggravated battery and resisting police in connection with an incident that took place around 10:18 p.m. at the Old Orchard Shopping Center.

Robert E. Valdez, 36, of the 3700 block of Adesso Lane in Joliet, was arrested at 6:40 a.m. on June 15 in the 8300 block of Crawford Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and driving with a revoked license. He was also cited for a traffic offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jacqueline J. Franklin, 19, of the 9100 block of Kildare Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at the Skokie Police Department at 5:29 p.m. on June 15 and charged with identity theft.

Sarah Lynn Esau, 29, of the 1400 block of Greenfield Avenue in Burlington, Wisconsin, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. on June 15 in the 4700 block of Greenwood Street and charged with retail theft, obstructing identification and driving with a suspended or revoked drivers license.

Renatta B. Maksoukas, 36, of the 8300 block of North Christiana Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 3:02 a.m. on June 17 in the 3400 block of Cleveland Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
