Frank J. Charhut, 87, beloved husband of Diane E. Charhut nee Culley for 65 years, loving father of Judith “Judy” (Richard) Graham, Kenneth “Ken” (Maureen) Charhut, and Daniel “Dan” (Patricia) Charhut and Karen (Peter) Alexander; proud grandfather of Rich and Michael Graham, Kelly (Jared) Hughes, Christine, Bridget, Nick, and Christopher Charhut, Lauren and Joe Alexander; great grandfather of William Hughes: dear brother of Ed (Paulette) Charhut and the late Don Charhut.

Frank was born March 10, 1931 in Chicago to Frank and Jean Kozuch Charhut, attended St Stanislaus B&M grammar school, Lane Tech high school and the Aeronautical University from which he graduated head of his class in 1950. He met Diane and elected to stay in Chicago and pursue a career in fluid dynamics rather than move to California and enter the aeronautical profession. He joined the Allis Seal Corp (latter the Chicago Allis Manufacturing Corp), as an engineer in 1950 and retired as Corp Executive Vice President in 2009. During his career, he served as Chairman of the SAE Seal Technical Committee, Chairman of the RMA Sealing Products Technical Committee and held memberships in the ASTM and STLE. He held 5 US patents relating to seal technology. His civic career encompassed over 40 years with the Village of Northfield including, 17 years as a member of Architectural Committee, 8 years as Village Trustee and numerous years with the Caucus and other committees. An avid golfer, he served two terms as the President of the OGC men's club at Wilmette Golf Club. He was a director of the CDGA for over a decade and received the Century Club Award for rating over 100 Chicago Area golf courses. His goal was to shoot his age which he did every time he played, just not on the 18th hole. He enjoyed math and physics and attempted to keep informed via the written and electronic media.

Visitation: Friday Aug. 10, 2018 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Boulevard at Old Orchard Road, Skokie. Funeral Mass: Saturday Aug. 11, 10 a.m. at Saint Philip the Apostle in Divine Mercy Parish, 1962 Old Willow Road, Northfield. Entombment: Saint Adalbert Cemetery & Mausoleum, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: North Shore Senior Center, 61 Northfield Road, Northfield, Illinois 60093
