Featured Obituary:

Rosaria Novi was born on April 2, 1932 in Naples, Italy. She was a strong, kind, happy woman, and a dedicated wife for 59 years to the late John Novi, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her 3 children, Maria, John (Effie) the late Tina. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Alissa (Mariah) Shane (Stephanie) Joey, Katia and Johnny.

She was a proud young schoolteacher in Salerno, Italy when she met her husband John. They were married and migrated to Chicago in 1959. They raised a beautiful family together rich in Italian traditions, culture and deep grounded family values. They lived and raised their children in the Chicago neighborhood of Edison Park and St. Juliana Parrish and later moved to Glenview, 20 years ago to follow their children and grandchildren.

Rosaria was the quintessential, delightful Italian mother. She was funny and brutally honest. Maybe that’s why she was so funny. Truth in humor. Rosaria loved to sing along to Italian songs and enjoyed playing piano. She had a deep passion for cooking delicious Mediterranean food and she lovingly looked forward to hosting Sunday lunch every week. Her garden was filled with tomatoes, peppers, arugula and all her Italian herbs. And she passed on her wonderful gifts to her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed the beautiful outdoors during any season and would walk for hours around her familiar neighborhood. You could find her often sitting outside on her front steps watching and greeting neighbors.
