Northlight Theatre Summer Camp
Northlight Theatre Summer Camp combines professional theatre skills training with summer camp traditions for grades 2-9.
Northlight Theatre Summer Camp uses professional theatre skills to foster creativity and build self-confidence in a timeless summer camp environment, with programs for grades 2-9.
Northlight’s Education Department approaches all aspects of education programming with a spirit of collaboration to encourage students’ artistic growth through self-expression and unbridled creativity. The teaching professionals are committed to sharing their love of theatre in a safe, age-appropriate setting and to helping students build a lifelong appreciation for theatre and the arts.

Build-a-Play
Dates: June 19-30, 2017 (2 weeks)
Ages: Grades 2-5 and 6-9
Fee: $500
Build-a-Play introduces theatre skills as writing, improvisation, voice, and movement while building self-confidence and collaboration through the adaptation of a familiar story. This summer will focus on monster stories, with an informal presentation of camper-created plays at the end of the two-week session.

Theatre Camp Classic
Dates: July 10 – August 4, 2017 (4 weeks)
Ages: Grades 2-5 and 6-9
Fee: $925
Theatre Camp Classic builds on theatre skills, fostering a spirit of collaboration, confidence and friendship through rehearsal of an original play. Core classes, electives, and rehearsals are paired with field trips, guest artists, and timeless summer camp activities. This four-week program concludes with a full onstage production of an original play written for Northlight campers.
Speak Up!
Dates: August 7 – 11, 2017 (1 week)
Ages: Grades 5-8
Fee: $260
Speak Up! explores themes of identity, community, and social justice issues through the process of creating an original performance. This program fosters social responsibility by allowing campers to use their voices to create positive change in their community. The one-week program includes a final informal presentation of the campers’ theatre-for-social-change plays.
Northlight Summer Camp will take place at Northlight Theatre housed in the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts located at 9501 Skokie Blvd. Classes and rehearsals take place on the Northlight stage, work rooms, and Rice rehearsal room. Keeping with Northlight's tradition, students will rehearse, perform and explore on our professional Northlight Theatre stage.
