As I have previously documented here, the Chicago Bliss won the Legends Football League championship last season. It was a fun and magical ride to the title and I was ecstatic to be on the bandwagon.
The same intensity and drive that Coach Keith Hac displayed in getting the Bliss to the title has been shown again during the offseason in the form of a couple key additions he has made. One addition is on the field and one is off, but both have already made an impact.
Shari Onley is just coming off of winning the LFL Australia championship with the New South Wales Surge. The Aussie import has been practicing with the Bliss for the last few weeks, although her position is being kept a secret.
Does it really matter? She is going to be a force at whatever position she plays. With no disrespect at all to the champion Bliss, there is always room for a player of Onley's caliber. Keep your eyes on #11 this season. She is going to be fun to watch, except from the opponents' viewpoint.
Team Liaison and Media Relations Coordinator Sherry Helberg Garrity is also new to the Bliss. Garrity brings an extensive business and athletic background with her.
An all-female team coached by an all-male staff can certainly come with problems. In her role as Liaison, Garrity will be minimizing those problems on and off the field, before, during and after the games.
Her role in Media Relations is just as important. Her goal is to help put the Bliss on the Chicago sports map. It's a crowded field and the competition for the sports fan is fierce, but the Bliss are an exciting team and a winning one!
The Bliss have been making many public appearances hoping to raise interest and awareness. Their next appearance will be at Resistance Pro's "Don't Tread," on Friday, April 25 in Willowbrook. With Garrity on board, you can expect to see a lot more of the Bliss around the Chicago area.
For the Bliss, winning is a team effort. Coach Hac views every organizational position as integral to the team's success. He also expects a lot of success from this team. In fact, he guaranteed a title repeat.
Thank you in advance for your contributions and welcome to the team, Shari and Sherry!
