Pair From Skokie Charged with Robbing Cab Drivers

Armed robbery charges dealt to pair of relatives for Nov. 15 incidents.

Two young Skokie men, possibly brothers, have been charged with armed robbery in connection to a pair of incidents in which cab drivers were robbed at gunpoint earlier this month.

Filbert Elonge, 21, and Dennis Elonge, 19, both of the 9000 block of Bronx Avenue, are accused of taking cash and a cellphone or tablet from the cab drivers around 3:15 a.m. and 5:25 p.m. on Nov. 15 near Lavergne and Greenwood avenues, according to the Skokie Review.

The older Elonge was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, resisting arrest and criminal trespass to a residence.

A .40-caliber handgun was recovered during an investigation of the incidents.
