• Skokie Police On Patrol For DUIs This Labor Day (patch.com) — Skokie police will significantly increase patrols through Sept. 8 to crack down on impaired, speeding and distracted drivers over the Labor Day period. Officers will enforce zero tolerance for DUI, including alcohol, cannabis and certain medications, and remind residents that first-time offenses can be costly and lead to license suspension. Residents are urged to plan sober rides and use taxis, transit or ride-shares to keep Skokie roads safe.

• Wildkits Dominate at the Congressional Art Competition (evanstonian.net) — Talented ETHS student artists from nearby Evanston swept all the awards in the 9th District Congressional Art Competition, with judging held at Skokie Public Library. Local teens presented their work and artist statements in Skokie before a district winner headed to Washington, D.C., underscoring the library's role as a regional cultural hub.
