Regina Dominican Mathletes Head to State

The Regina Dominican Mathletes team advances to State after a second place finish at the Regional competition.

The Regina Dominican Mathletes team advances to State after a second place finish at the Regional competition. The Mathletes competed in the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics on Feb. 28 at Evanston Township High School.

The Algebra team, made up of Kendall Barrett (Glenview), Kyleigh Dalkin (Chicago), Hailey Hoffman (Glenview), Brighid King (Chicago), Elizabeth Stutz (Wilmette), and Xindi Sun (Wilmette), and the Calculator team, made up of Barrett, Mary Berg (Skokie), Yeonju Doh (Buffalo Grove), Siyuan Xu (Evanston), and Katherine Strenk (Glenview), took first place. The Algebra 2 team, Precalculus team, and the Freshman-Sophomore team finished second.

In individual competition, Sun took home first place in Algebra 1, Barrett earned a third place spot in Algebra 1, and Yujin Lee (Wilmette) finished third in Precalculus.

The entire Mathletes team will compete at State on May 2 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
