Schakowsky Delivers Meals on Wheels to Elderly Residents

Illinois 9th District Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky delivered Meals on Wheels to residents of Evanston and Skokie on Thursday as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Older Americans Act, which includes the Meals on Wheels program.

“For millions of seniors and people with disabilities, Meals on Wheels is an essential program,” said Schakowsky, who joined Barbara Rabyne of the Council of Jewish Elderly in delivering the meals.

“It was a privilege to knock on doors and drop off nutritious meals to people in our community. I enjoyed seeing them smile, and I was glad to do my part, but I really commend the Meals on Wheels workers who ensure people get their meals on a regular basis.”
