School Bus Hit-And-Run, 'Unauthorized Recording': Skokie Crimes
Skokie Police Blotter: Sept. 3 - Sept. 9

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity and of those recently arrested. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

HIT-AND-RUN

An unidentified driver crashed a car into a bush and fled the scene, leaving the car behind in the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. on Sept. 3.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY

There was a report of aggravated domestic battery to three people at 1:44 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the 9400 block of Kolmar Avenue.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
On Sept. 4, it was reported a person lost a wallet between Aug. 31 and Sept 3 in the 5300 block of Lunt Avenue. He learned that two of his credits cards had been used without his consent.
EXTORTION
A case of extortion over the internet was reported in the 7700 block of Kenneth Avenue between 9 p.m. and 11:42 p.m. on Sept. 4.
SCHOOL BUS HIT-AND-RUN
A school bus crashed into a parked vehicle while dropping off a student in the 3800 block of Madison Street on Sept. 5 at 2:15 p.m. The driver continued heading westbound on Madison. No one was seeking to press charges.
HIT-AND-RUN
A traffic crash occurred at the intersection of Ewing Avenue and Church Street on Sept. 5 at 7:45 a.m. and an unidentified driver left the scene. Another motorist wished to press charges.
UNAUTHORIZED VIDEOTAPING
On Sept. 6, it was reported that during the previous few days "unauthorized recording" was taking place in the 3800 block of Howard Street.
ARRESTS
Michael S. Silas, 50, of the 500 block of Des Plaines Street, was arrested Sept. 3 at 7:08 p.m at the Skokie Walmart on an in-state warrant. Police also charged the man with possession of drug equipment.
Aaron Ray Roberts, 45, of the 3300 block of West Foster Avenue was arrested at the Skokie Walmart on Sept 7 on an in-state warrant and also charged with obstructing identification.
Jerry J. Williams, 42, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at the Skokie Walmart on Sept. 7 at 11:02 a.m. and charged with robbery.

Carl Taylor, 28, of the 600 block of North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested Sept 8 at 2:05 p.m. at the headquarters of the Cook County Sheriff's Police in Maywood and charged with identity theft. He was being held at Cook County Jail without bond ahead of a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 22.
Oscar Garcia, 19, of the 4400 block of North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at Old Orchard Shopping Center on Sept. 8 at 9:15 p.m. and charged with retail theft.
Debra M. Wasserman, 34, of the 700 block of Mulford Street, was arrested on Sept. 9 at 11:15 a.m. at the Evanston Sam's Club, 2450 Main St., and charged with residential burglary and fleeing or attempting to elude a peace office, among other charges. She was being held at Cook County Jail on $10,000 bond ahead of an Oct. 6 court date.

Eloy Camacho, 66, of the 2000 block of North Leamington Avenue, Chicago, was arrested Sept. 10 at 9:31 a.m. at Skokie Hospital, 9600 Gross Point Rd., and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. (No photograph available.)
