Search for Young Girl on Emerson Street Turns Up Empty

A Skokie resident called police regarding a young girl alone after midnight only wearing a t-shirt.

Police in Skokie found no evidence of a crime early Wednesday morning after a resident called police reporting a young girl had been alone wearing only a white t-shirt near Crawford and Emerson around 12:30 a.m.

Officers searched the area where the resident said the girl - approximately 6-8 years of age - was seen running from Crawford and Emerson to Keeler and Emerson. The caller stated when the child observed the caller watching, she hid in the bushes.

“We responded and searched the area,” according to Skokie Police Officer Eric Swaback. “The citizen certainly thought there was concern considering the child’s age, the time of night and that it was a little chilly for her to only be wearing a shirt.”
