Sexual Abuse Support Community Expands to Skokie

The Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center will open its second office on Dempster Street in January.

The Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center, which has served as a community of healing and support for survivors of sexual abuse for more than 30 years, announced this week it plans on expanding to Skokie by January 2016.

The new Skokie office at 4232 Dempster Street will staff a team of four in addition to interns and volunteers who will provide additional services with plans to grow the team should demand increase.

“We are thrilled to share ZCenter’s important counseling and support services with the Skokie community,” said Amy Junge, CEO of ZCenter. “One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused or assaulted before the age of 18 years old. There is healing after sexual violence, and ZCenter is here to support survivors on their individual healing journeys in a beautiful, holistic space.”
