Skokie-Based Hospice Participates in Red Nose Day USA

CHICAGO – In conjunction with Red Nose Day and its highly-anticipated, star-studded entertainment TV special on May 21, Unity Hospice has decided to wholly support this international campaign. On May 1, Unity Hospice purchased nearly 1,000 red noses from area Walgreens’ and promoted the campaign throughout their communities by taking photos with friends, family, neighbors, state legislators and business partners for inclusion on Unity Hospice’s webpage dedicated to Red Nose Day USA.

Red Nose Day is a campaign devoted to raising money for children and youth around the world living in poverty. The idea is to purchase a red nose and create good laughs for a great cause. Proceeds from all Red Nose sales will benefit the Red Nose Day Fund, which financially supports various children’s charities including Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America and United Way. Together, the efforts of Red Nose Day USA and children’s charities improve the lives of youth around the world by providing safety, education and a healthy, stable life.

Red Nose Day was founded in 1988 by Comic Relief, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity in the United Kingdom. Red Nose Day was created out of the firm belief that the power of mass media and high-profile celebrities can raise awareness of issues of poverty to change and save millions of lives. Now, nearly, 30 years later, the United States will have its inaugural Red Nose Day on May 21, 2015.
