Skokie House Bar Stabber Gets 5 Years

Attempted murder charge against 52-year-old Chicago man dropped.

SKOKIE, IL - A Chicago man will spend five years in prison after he was sentenced this week for his role in a stabbing that left another man seriously wounded at a bar in Skokie last year.

James I. Vechiola, 52 pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in return for a charge of attempted murder being dropped, according to the Skokie Review. He was sentenced to five years in prison in addition to having to pay various fines and fees.

Vechiola was accused of stabbing a 52-year-old man from Wheaton several times during a fight that began at the Skokie House Bar in the 7800 block of Lincoln Avenue in March of 2015.
