Skokie Obituary: Eugene Donald Hezner

Eugene Donald Hezner was born in Chicago, IL in 1924. He was raised in Skokie, IL and attended Niles Township High School. Eugene, “Duke” served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and later achieved his bachelor’s degree at Bradley University. Gene married Margaret E.L. King in 1954 and settled in Skokie, IL. Gene worked with Chicago Bank Building and Supply Co., founded Bank Structures. Inc., and was the principal of The Hezner Corporation. All firms provided architectural and construction services. Gene retired in 1992. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. and Erna Hezner, his sister Lucille Lyke, and his wife of 61 years, Margaret E.L. Hezner. Eugene is survived by his son Kurt E. and his wife Denise Hezner of Libertyville, IL, and his son Scott K. and his wife Jayne M. Hezner of Vernon Hills, IL and their two children, Hillary K. and Mason S. Hezner both of Chicago, IL. Eugene was a visionary, who always had a plan for how things should happen. Eugene loved his family, his work, and was relentless in his pursuit of success. His family and friends will miss him dearly. Memorial services are private.
