Skokie Park District Board Approves Sale Of Maintenance Facility
$3 million sale price recoups much of the cost of new facility, park director says.

SKOKIE, IL — The Park District has approved plans to sell its 7701 Skokie Boulevard maintenance facility to the neighboring Sherman Dodge car dealer for $3 million, recouping much of the $3.4 million it spent to buy a replacement at 7500 Frontage Road. The district plans to complete the move within about a year, ending a decade-long search for an appropriate space with adequate indoor and outdoor storage, Skokie Park District Executive Director John Ohrlund told Pioneer Press.
During a Feb. 27 meeting, the Skokie Park Board also approved of payments of more than $100,000 to Gewalt Hamilton and William Architects for a feasibility study and engineering services, but Supt. of Parks Michael Rea said he expects the final cost to be significantly lower, according to Pioneer Press.
