Skokie Woman Finishes in Third Place on Jeopardy!

Marianne Novak had a good chance to win before answering incorrectly in Final Jeopardy.

SKOKIE, IL - A Skokie woman competed on Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!

Marianne Novak, described on the show as “an orthodox rabbinical student from Skokie, Illinois” was the middle contestant on the popular national game show hosted by Alex Trebek.

Novak put together a good showing, although her final total was just $1. She had a lead on the other contestants late in the Double Jeopardy round, but was undone in Final Jeopardy when she answered “What was the Battle of Gettysburg,” when the correct question was “What was the Battle of New Orleans.”

The Skokie resident risked it all but $1, but still left the show with a $1,000 total for finishing in third place. She was in second place heading in to the final round.

Novak competed against defending champion Susan Cole (a legislative librarian from Bowie, MD) and Shannon Dillmore, a genomics research manager from Raleigh, N.C. who won on Monday’s show.
