The Village of Skokie has once again received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This significant achievement recognizes that Skokie’s budget satisfies nationally accepted guidelines for effective budget presentation. The award also recognizes an outstanding achievement and commitment by the Village Board and staff in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting for fiscal year 2015, in effect from May 1, 2014 through April 30, 2015.
The GFOA states that in order to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award a budget must be rated as proficient in the following categories: how well the entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
