Sports Medicine Specialist Joins Illinois Bone & Joint Institute

Ronak Patel, MD, a sports medicine specialist, has joined Illinois Bone & Joint Institute

Sports medicine specialist Dr. Ronak Patel has joined the team at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI). Dr. Patel treats the full spectrum of sports injuries for adolescents and offers special expertise in shoulder and knee disorders.

Dr. Patel is among the few physicians in Chicago performing advanced cartilage restoration and meniscal transplantation. His other areas of focus include anatomic ACL reconstruction, patellar stabilizations, and minimally invasive procedures for knee arthritis, as well as arthroscopic management of shoulder problems.

Dr. Patel practices evidence-based medicine and favors non-surgical interventions whenever possible, working closely with IBJI therapists to restore patients to optimal function. He offers cartilage restoration, osteotomies to reduce stress on the joint, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection therapy, and other orthobiologic techniques to preserve native joints as long as possible and promote healing.

The Naperville native completed his residency at Northwestern University, followed by a prestigious Sports Medicine fellowship at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic.
