Student Busted Selling Weed-Laced Cookies: Skokie Crime Reports
A $21,000 smash-and-grab, a poisened dog, sexual abuse in the Skokie Police Blotter for Feb. 24 - March 5

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
DOG POISONED
A dog was found poisoned in a backyard in the 8200 block of Ridgeway Avenue. It is believed to have taken place between Feb. 14 and Feb. 26.

DEFACEMENT
Someone damaged a park bench in the 7800 block of Avers Avenue by painting an offensive phrase on it. It was reported around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 27.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 7600 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that sometime between Feb. 1 and Feb. 27 someone had used their personal information to purchase a vehicle.

PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package from the front door of a home in teh 5200 block of Sherwin Avenue between noon and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 26.
THEFT
A resident in the 8100 block of Knox Avenue reported that someone they knew had changed the banking information on their tax returns and taken their money sometime during February.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 7900 block of East Prairie Road reported on March 1 that someone had broken into their home through the rear door while they were out of town. The master bedroom had been ransacked. The basement and bedrooms on the main floor were also rummaged through.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole $21,000 in cash from the seat of a vehicle parked in the 5300 block of Old Orchard Road between 10:50 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. on March 1. The burglary broke through the front passenger side window.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 5300 block of Lee Court between 10:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. on March 1. Police did not specify what, if anything was taken.
AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL SEXUAL ABUSE
An incident of sexual abuse reportedly took place in the 7000 block of Carpenter Road, in the area of the Village Crossing shopping center, between 3:30 and 6 p.m. on March 1.
HOME BURGLARY
There was a burglary and criminal damage to a home in the 5300 block of Lee Court between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on March 2, police were told.
CAR THEFT
Someone stole a gray colored 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with an extended cab from the 8300 block of Lawndale Avenue between 6:10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on March 2.
HIT-AND-RUN
After a traffic crash in the 3900 block of Dempster Street, one of the drivers refused to provide information and fled the scene around 6:07 p.m. on March 2.
THEFT OF SERVICES
A man who was dropped off around 11:03 a.m. in the 4900 block of Kirk Street refused to pay his cab fare.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 7800 block of Babb Avenue between 6 and 11:41 p.m. on March 3.
ARRESTS

Howard M. Kogan, 61, of the 9100 block of Kolmar Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 4:41 p.m. on Feb. 27 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with aggravated battery.
Belma Ramic, 18, of the 1900 block of West Hood Avenue, Chicago, and Alexis C. Martinez, 18, of the 5300 block of West George Street, Chicago, were arrested on Feb. 27 at 9:48 p.m. at the Sephora store in the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.
A juvenile student at Niles West High School brought cookies laced with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, to school on Feb. 28 in order to sell them to other students. Police said it qualified for two felony counts, possession of more than 100 grams of cannabis and possession with intent to deliver. Police did not immediately respond to queries regarding whether charges were filed.
Charles Robert Maynor, 45, of the 9100 block of Lawler Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 5:40 a.m. on March 2 in the 4800 block of Enfield Avenue on an in-state warrant for an unspecified offense.
Robert B. Punzalan, 40, of the 9000 block of Mansfield Avenue, Morton Grove, was arrested at 10 p.m. March 2 at his home and charged with retail theft.
A person was punched and slapped during an argument in the 4800 block of Dempster Street at 5:02 p.m. on March 3, and a person was arrested and charged. Police declined to provide the name of the arrestee.
Fernanda E. Gomora-Acosta, 19, of the 3200 block of West Le Moyne Street, Chicago, was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. on March 3 at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft.
Marya Felecia Williams, of the 4200 block of South Drexel Boulevard, Chicago, was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. on March 3 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center on an in-state warrant for jumping bail and retail theft.
Merisha M. Cady, 36, of the 4400 block of North Kimball Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 7:33 p.m. on March 3 at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft.
William Anderson Pickering, 22, of the 400 block of Sheridan Road, Evanston, was arrested at 7:38 p.m. on March 5 at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.
Luz Maria Aguilar-Soto, 28, of the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving personal injury or death, according to police.
