Veterans Day Indifference Means School in Session for District 68
An education assembly was held in place of a day off for students in Skokie schools on Friday.

SKOKIE, IL - Skokie School District 68 changed the game plan from previous years in holding classes on Veterans Day.

Instead, a school-wide assembly was held at Old Orchard Junior High on Friday. It featured 11 veterans who are all related to District 68 students in one way or another.
"The (school board) realized that kids are probably not sitting at home thinking about the veterans when they're off school," Old Orchard Principal Robyn Huemmer said. "This was a really nice way for our students to learn about Veterans Day."
