August 25, 2021
In late August 2021, Skokie property owners received the second-installment tax bills for 2020. Due to the Village's now 31-year property tax freeze, the Village's portion of an average property tax bill is approximately 6.24 percent, down from 16 percent when the property tax freeze was first instituted in 1990. At that time, the Village's annual property tax levy was$15.4 million; due to strategic economic development and austere budgeting, the Village has maintained the property tax freeze ever since, with the annual property tax levy remaining $15.4 million.
