Walmart Patron Faces Firearm, Shoplifting Charges: Skokie Blotter

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
BOMB THREAT
A student at Niles West High School was issued a disorderly conduct citation after allegedly saying "I have a bomb in my backpack," while in a crowded lunchroom. The juvenile was released to a parent's custody.

HOME BURGLARY
A residential burglary was reported in the 5000 block of Fairview Lane around 1:44 p.m. on March 7.
THEFT
A residential of the 8100 block of Knox Avenue told police on March 7 that someone had stolen his money and passport on Sept. 22, 2017.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
Two residential burglaries were reported in the 5000 block of Madison Street on the afternoon of March 7. In one, a man reportedly entered an apartment building and gained entry to a unit.
THEFT
Someone posting as a Walmart electronics salesman managed to scam a patron out of cash at the store in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole an emergency equipment control box from a vehicle left unlocked in the parking carage of the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 Old Orchard Rd..
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 4100 block of Birchwood Avenue between 6 a.m. and 9:32 p.m. on March 8.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
An a victim reported at the Skokie Police Department that an incident of aggravated criminal sexual assault had occurred between October 2016 and March 2018.
ASSAULT/FAILURE TO REGISTER
Someone told police on March 10 that a registered sex offender had assaulted him in the 5200 block of Touhy Avenue. The person was held until police could verify their sex offender registration status with the Illinois State Police.
ASSAULT
A women reportedly threatened another person over a parking spot at Old Orchard Shopping Center around 2:15 p.m. on March 10.
BURGLARY
Someone burgled the Boston Market in the 3600 block of Dempster Street between 4:30 and 8:12 a.m. on March 11.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
A senior citizen was reportedly battered following a dispute over a parking space in the Sanders parking lot in the 5300 block of Touhy Avenue around 12:11 p.m.
ARRESTS
Wali S. Shakir, 49, of the 9300 block of Congress Drive, Des Plaines, was arrested at 12:33 a.m. on March 7 in the 4800 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Ebuka Solomon Nnabuike, 33, of the 6800 block of North Sheridan Road, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. on March 7 at the Skokie Courthouse on an in-state warrant.
Jahnell Marie Horton, 24, of the 1700 block of Greenwood Street, Evanston, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on March 8 at the Old Orchard Macy's on an in-state warrand and charged with retail theft.
Anthony M. Lamarz, 33, of the 8600 block of Ferris Avenue, Morton Grove, was arrested at 9:34 a.m. on March 9 at Skokie Hospital and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Denise Marie Chatman, 51, of the 5700 block of North Merrimac Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 12:25 a.m. on March 10 in the 7800 block of Niles Center Road and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a controlled substance.
Juan M. Rojas-Soto, 25, of the 2000 block of Kristan Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested at 12:11 a.m. on March 11 at the Skokie Walmart and charged with retail theft and unlawful possession of firearms or ammunition.
Michele M. Houston, 62, of the 1800 block of Maple Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. on March 11 in the 4600 block of Golf Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08.
Jasmine B. Donaldson, 27, of the 9300 block of South Sagninaw Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 3:32 p.m. on March 11 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.
John Paul C. De Venecia, 39, of the 1180 block of Deltra Drive, Elgin, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. on March 11 in the 9900 block of Gross Point Road on an in-state warrant and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug equipment.
Tyrone T. Henderson, 60, of the 2400 block of West Flournoy, Chicago, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. on March 12 at the Skokie Pointe Marshalls store in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard.
Maria Canchola-Perez, 34, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. on March 13 at the Skokie Walmart and charged with retail theft.
Ramon Luis Vilella, 38, of the 3400 block of South 23rd Street, Milwaukee, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. on March 14 in the 7800 block of Niles Center Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08.
