SKOKIE, IL — Valentine's Day will be here before you know it, but that doesn't mean you have to venture beyond Skokie to find a romantic spot to take your sweetie.

We recently asked Skokie Patch readers to weigh in on their favorite restaurants to take a date on Valentine's Day. Here are their suggestions:

Libertad, 7931 Lincoln Ave.

The contemporary Latin American cuisine at Libertad was the top pick of readers, who praised its warm staff and great food. The scallops and black rice were a particular favorite of the downtown Skokie bar and restaurant.

"Had dinner reservations for our daughter’s 8th grade graduation and the ceremony ran long," one reader recalled. "We called the restaurant and they kept the kitchen open for us — amazingly kind and thoughtful, but made the evening that much more special."
