Woman Fatally Shot In Skokie Hotel Room

Several people have been interviewed but no charges have been filed in the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman Saturday night.

SKOKIE, IL — A woman was fatally shot at a Skokie hotel Saturday night. Around 11:49, officers responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire the Hampton Inn, 52o1 Old Orchard Road, police said. When they arrived, police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

Lesly Coronel, 22, of the West Lawn neighborhood in Chicago, was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Skokie police are investigating the circumstances of the woman's shooting with the assistance of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, according to a release. Police said they do not believe "a threat exists to the general public" based on a preliminary investigation.

Detectives have interviewed several people involved in the incident. No charges had been filed as of Sunday, according to the release.
