Woman Reunited with Cat After 3 Years

A downstate Illinois woman was thrilled - and shocked - to see Theodore at an animal hospital in Skokie this week.

Samantha Krieger, of downstate Caseyville, Ill., told the Skokie Review she thought the cat, Theodore was deceased after she couldn’t find him one day in 2013.

Skokie Animal Control found the gray cat after making a call to a homeowner who said the cat had been coming into the yard everyday. Using a microchip, they connected the cat to a hospital in the St. Louis area, then to Krieger.

When contacted, Krieger rented a car to meet her furry friend in the land of suburban Chicago.

No one is sure how the cat made the 300-mile journey from Caseyville to Skokie and what how he has been occupied over the last three years.

Both Krieger and Animal Control officials believe someone was caring for Theodore, as he was healthy when he was reunited with Krieger on Wednesday.
