• COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Ex-SoBo Madison Carlson earns All-MAC honors (gazettextra.com) — South Beloit sports fans can celebrate pitcher Madison Carlson, a former South Beloit High School standout, finishing her Northern Illinois University softball career with All-MAC First Team honors. The roundup also tracks strong postseason and award performances by several other Stateline-area softball players now competing at colleges across the country. 
• 29 ROTC members receive military commissions (unl.edu) — A South Beloit native, Sebastian Wysocki, has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army through the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s ROTC program. He’s one of 29 new officers from across the country who earned commissions in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps during ceremonies held May 8-10.
