Cop, Woman Remain In Critical Condition After South Chicago Fire
Firefighters saved a woman and young girl from a blaze that spread to two buildings on 79th and Muskegon early Wednesday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - Two Chicago police sergeants and a civilian female were hospitalized early Wednesday morning in a building fire in the city's South Chicago neighborhood. The injured woman and one of the officers who responded remained in critical condition at the University of Chicago trauma center later in the morning.
Firefighters were able to rescue the woman and a daughter in the family who was in a wheelchair after the father flagged down police in the area to alert them to the fire in the 7900 block of South Muskegon Avenue around 3 a.m., Chicago police reported. The daughter was also briefly hospitalized for evaluation.
Both the daughter and one of the officers have been released from the hospital as of 9 a.m. Wednesday while the mother and the other officer remain there for treatment. Their condition remained critical as of 10 a.m.
