Huesca was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His vehicle was stolen at the scene.

Although Huesca was still in uniform, he was wearing "something that covered it up" when he was attacked, Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling said last weekend.

Huesca was a six-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and was assigned to the Calumet District (5th) priority response team.

Police said Tate should be considered armed and dangerous.
