Attempted Murder Charge Against Man Accused Of Pulling Gun On Cop

Chicago police say Jamie Harrison put a gun to the chest of a police officer and tried to wrestle away his weapon.

CHICAGO, IL — A South Side man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he pulled a pair of revolvers on a police officer and tried to disarm him in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood over the weekend. Jamie Harrison, 33, of the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, disarming a police officer and armed habitual criminal after an incident police said occurred at 1:41 p.m. Sunday in the 8800 block of South Wallace Street.

The officer caught up with Harrison and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, police said Harrison removed a revolver from his pants pocket "and put it to the chest of the officer," who eventually overpowered Harrison and gained possession of the gun.

Harrison is then accused of pulling out a second gun that was also wrestled away by the officer. Police said Harrison also tried to grab the officer's holstered weapon before more officers arrived to arrest him.

The police officer was injured in the incident and taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in stable condition. Harrison was treated and released from South Shore Hospital in Chicago.
