Body Found During Fire Investigation in Avalon Park
A body was removed from the scene of a fire early Tuesday morning on Stony Island Avenue.

Chicago, IL - Fire crews who responded to a blaze at a commercial building in Avalon Park Tuesday morning found a dead body.
The body was discovered during the investigation of a fire around 7 a.m. in the 8000 block of S. Stony Island Avenue, according to WGN.
The fire has been extinguished, and Chicago police have declared the area a crime scene.

The victim was reported later Tuesday to have been a 56-year-old man who was shot in the head, according to CBS.

The location of the find is on the east end of the city’s Avalon Park neighborhood and just west of the Chicago Skyway.
Emergency crews were gathered in both a parking area adjacent to a the busy three-way intersection near the
Interstate and behind the building where the fire was reported.
