Calumet City apartment fire victims may be eligible for assistance
Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard urges families to apply

South Holland, IL – Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard says the apartment fire victims in Calumet City may be eligible for Township general assistance resources.
Henyard said the Township has resources such as food, shelter, household supplies and other assistance available to eligible recipients.
“My heart goes out to those who lost so much in the fire in Calumet City,” Henyard said. “The Township has resources to help. I would encourage those who are affected by the recent apartment fire in Calumet City to apply and see what services they are eligible to receive.”

The night of the fire, the Thornton Township helped bus people in the apartment building to safety and provided shelter and meals for them. Anyone interested in additional information about the services the Township provides may contact a General Assistance Representative at 708-596-6040, Ext. 3184.
