Car Slams Into Blue Island Public Library Entrance
Blue Island police and fire officials say more details will be released Tuesday.

SOUTH SIDE, IL — The front entrance of a south suburban library is gone after a car crashed into the building early Tuesday. WMAQ reported a Blue Island Public Library employee said he got a call around 2 a.m. about serious damage done to the property in the 2400 block of York Street, adding that he found a messy scene after a car crashed through the front entrance. The worker also said he saw a small, light-colored sedan being towed away, according to WMAQ.
According to the news report, library employees reported the extensive damage will likely leave the building closed during its normal opening time of 9 a.m. due to cleanup and repairs, as crews were already working Tuesday morning to board up the front entrance.
Blue Island police and fire officials said details would be released later Tuesday, as it's unclear what will happen with the library's summer programs.
