Citing “Safety,” Dolton 149 Urges Parents to Return Student Transportation Forms on 1st Day of School, August 21
District needs information on whether a child is being picked-up by a parent or taking a bus or walking as well contact telephone numbers.

(Calumet City, IL) – The top administrator for Dolton School District 149 is urging local parents to submit student transportation forms to the district by the first day of school to help school staff get kids home safely.
The form, which asks parents the means by which each child will arrive and depart to and from their local school, is posted to the district Web site (click here for the form). Parents need to return the form to the child’s school by August 21.
“Our first priority is our students’ safety,” said Dolton 149 Superintendent Dr. Shelly Davis-Jones. “We need to make sure all of our children make it home safely everyday from school; so, we need parents to fill out the critical information on the transportation form and get it back to us by August 21.”

In addition to route information, such as whether a child is being picked-up by a parent or taking a bus or walking, the form also asks parents for their work, home, and cell-phone contact information.

“We need to be able to potentially communicate with a parent at any moment during the school day,” Dr. Davis-Jones added.
