Convicted Felon Charged In Shooting Of Chicago Cop
A South Side man on parole was caught minutes after police say he shot an officer in the hand.

CHICAGO, IL - A convicted felon who was on parole has been charged in connection with the shooting of a Chicago police officer Wednesday night. Anthony Woodridge, 25, of the 9500 block of South Prairie Avenue is accused of shooting a police officer in the hand during a foot pursuit around 11:22 p.m. in the 9500 block of South Calumet.
Plain clothes police officers in the 5th District made a street stop in the area of 95th and Calumet and that led to a foot pursuit, according to a news alert from the Chicago Police Department. During the pursuit, Woodridge is accused of turning "in the direction of the officers and discharged a weapon striking an officer in the hand and the back."

Previous reports indicate Woodridge was stopped minutes later in the area.
A background check of Woodridge showed him to be a convicted felon on parole for possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was charged with two felony counts of attempted first degree murder, one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one felony count of aggravated battery by discharge of a firearm.
