Off-Duty Cop, Carjacker Exchange Gunfire At 79th And Lawndale
An off-duty police officer was the victim of an attempted carjacker Friday morning in Ashburn.

CHICAGO, IL - An off-duty Chicago police officer was the victim of an attempted carjacking near 79th and Lawndale Friday morning, an incident that resulted in an exchange of gunfire.
Chicago police said an offender opened the passenger's side door of the officer's vehicle shortly before noon in the 3700 block of West 79th Street. The officer "announced his office" and showed his own weapon before gunfire exchanged.
No injuries have been reported. Police have classified it as a "police-involved" shooting.
