Furnaces, Hot Water Tanks Stolen In South Chicago Home Burglaries

Police say thieves have taken large items during a number of home burglaries in South Chicago during March.

CHICAGO, IL - A string of residential burglaries in the city's South Chicago neighborhood include reports that the thieves have made off with large items. Offenders in the March break-ins have taken kitchen appliances, hot water tanks, furnaces and other items from apartments and single-family homes, according to police.

An alert to residents of the city's 4th Police District notes incidents were reported in the 8500 block of S. Yates at 3 p.m. on March 9, 8500 block of S. Marquette at 5 p.m. on March 12, 8600 block of S. Colfax at 3:30 p.m. on March 19, 8700 block of S. Marquette at 8 p.m. on March 19 and 8500 block of S. Essex at 5:30 p.m. on March 27.

Police say they do not have any leads on possible suspects as of Monday.
