Pilsen Man Will Buy Home for Brother After Winning Lottery
62-year-old Olvidio Alanis spent $10 on a ticket worth a half-million.

CHICAGO, IL - A Pilsen man’s $10 gamble paid off in a big way, and his brother will see a huge benefit.
Ovidio Alanis spent the sawbuck on an Illinois Lottery Big Money ticket recently and instantly won $500,000, according to an Illinois Lottery news release. He plans to purchase a home for his brother with the winnings.
“Thanks to this prize I can buy a house for my brother,” said Alanis, 62, a native of Mexico who has lived in Pilsen for more than 40 years. “We feel blessed this happened.”

Alanis was on his way home from work when he bought the winning ticket on Jo-Do’s Varieties at 1840 Blue Island Ave. in Pilsen. The store gets $5,000 for selling the winning ticker.
He urges others who win big bucks to think family first.
