RTA Will Develop 75th Street, 79th Street Corridors

A plan to develop two main thoroughfares on the East Side is one of nine projects selected as part of the RTA's Community Planning program.

CHICAGO, IL - The Regional Transportation Authority will focus on beefing up a pair of corridors on the South Side of Chicago over the next several months after they selected a bid from the city as one of nine projects it will help fund through its Community Planning program. A plan will be developed for both the East 75th street and East 79th Street corridors between Stony Island Avenue and the lakefront in the South Shore neighborhood as a result of the RTA choosing the project.

According to the RTA, the plan "will focus on land use, business retention, housing and connectivity to transit" for both corridors.

The South Side project is the only one in the city of Chicago selected among the nine. In all, the RTA will allocate $566,000 to the nine projects.
