Services Set For Slain CPD Officer Luis Huesca At Blake-Lamb, St. Rita
A public visitation for the young officer is set for Sunday, April 28, at Blake-Lamb, with a funeral Mass Monday at St. Rita of Cascia.

CHICAGO — Funeral arrangements have been made for Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca, who was killed by gunfire early Sunday morning returning to his Gage Park home after he had finished his shift.
The joy of what would have been the young officer’s 31st birthday was replaced by a long, sad procession Tuesday to Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn. In a statement on Facebook, Chicago police said, "we are mourning the loss of Officer Huesca in the line of duty to the violence he worked to protect our city from. We will forever support his family and carry on his legacy of service and kindness."
The public visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St. (103rd Street and Cicero Avenue), Oak Lawn.

Huesca grew up in Gage Park and went to church there. He was described and kind and caring, who loved being a Chicago police officer and helping people. Huesca had six years with the force and was assigned to the Calumet District (5th) priority response team. He worked in the same district as Officer Areanah Preston, who was also shot to death last May returning home from work.
Chicago police released video earlier this week of a black man wearing glasses visiting a convenience store in the hours before and after the shooting. According to news reports, police know who they’re looking for. The officer’s car was also stolen during the attack, and his service weapon and badge are missing, police said.
Police ask anyone who may recognize the individual in the video to contact CPD Area One Detectives at 312-747-8380 or dial 911.
