Taxi Drivers Targeted By Robber In Park Manor

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police have issued a community alert about a man who has apparently been targeting taxi drivers in robberies in the city's Park Manor neighborhood. In two incidents this month, police say he posed as a client and asked the drivers to drive him to different locations after picking him up in the 6900 block of South Wabash Avenue.

The community alert indicates that the man asks to use the victims cell phones and that when they are turned down, he implies that he has a weapon and takes their property.

Incidents were reported in the 6900 block of Wabash at 4:12 p.m. on Oct. 16 and in the 6600 block of South State Street at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Police have described the robber as an African-American man between 18 and 23 years old, 5'10-6'00 tall, 210 lbs. with a black complexion.
