Water Problems On Far South Side After Generator Failure

Residents of several South Side neighborhoods are experiencing low water pressure after a generator failure at the Roseland Pumping Station.

CHICAGO, IL - Several thousand residents of the city's South Side are having water issues Monday night. A generator at the Roseland Pumping Station went offline around 8 p.m., causing issues for residents in several South Side neighborhoods.

According to 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea, the affected area was between 79th Street and 111th Street, from Indiana Avenue to Western Avenue. Residents of Roseland, Washington Heights, Brainerd, Fernwood, Beverly and Auburn Gresham were among those experiencing problems.

Several reports online of residents west of Western Avenue and south of 111th Street experiencing low water pressure were also made.

O'Shea said the Department of Water Management was working to address the issued, and expected a full restoration of service by 11 p.m.
