Woman, 74, Hit By Truck And Killed Outside Ford City Mall

A senior citizen from Oregon was killed while in the crosswalk at 74th and Cicero Monday night.

CHICAGO - A woman was hit by a car and killed on Cicero Avenue just outside Ford City Mall Monday night. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Charlotte Butsch, a 74-year-old woman from Lebanon, Oregon.

Chicago police say Butsch was in the crosswalk on 74th and Cicero at 10:48 p.m. on Nov. 19 when the driver of a pick-up truck headed northbound on Cicero struck her.

Butsch was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced at 11:25 p.m.

The truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was cited for pedestrian in roadway-due care, police said.

The Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents unit continues to investigate the incident.
